A 54-year-old woman has been charged following a crash early Friday morning east of Hensall involving a school bus.

Huron County OPP and EMS were called to the two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Line 17 and Road 183 around 8:45 a.m.

Investigators say it a appears a Buick Rendezvous was westbound on Line 17 when the driver failed to stop for a stop sign. The SUV entered the intersection and was struck by a school bus travelling southbound on Road 183.

The 68-year-old male school bus driver from Zurich and a 14-year-old female student from South Huron District High School were transported to South Huron Hospital with minor injuries.

Four other passengers on the school bus and the driver of the Buick were all uninjured.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

The driver of the Buick, Geja Veldman of Bluewater, has been charged with disobeying a stop sign – failing to stop under the Highway Traffic Act.
