Her voice trembling, Laurie Alderton remembers her late son Josh, “He’s my better half; he’s my best friend; and he’s gone.”

On July 15th, Josh was driving from Sarnia to his job in London when his  vehicle left the road and crashed along Highway 402.

Friends and family say from the time he was just six years old Josh loved helping others.

He volunteered for various charities including; The Christmas Cheer Drive, Terry Fox runs, and the Walk-A-Mile In Her Shoes event. Walk-A-Mile raises money for abused woman and their children.

Now, Josh’s mother and his friends are going to continue that legacy of helping others by creating a scholarship in his name.

The scholarship will help women and children who have been victims of abuse further their education.

Laurie says “We’re keeping his memory alive by sending children back to school.”

Friend Sarah Murphy adds “We want to remember Josh and Josh would want to help someone.”

The “Blue Eyes, Big Heart” fundraiser will be held at the Stubborn Mule on Campbell Street in Sarnia on August 10th, with tickets available for $10 at the door.
