Three people have been charged following a high speed pursuit in Sarnia on Sunday.

Around 8 a.m. officers located a reported stolen vehicle with three people inside in the area of Vidal Street and Devine Street. The vehicle fled east at a high rate of speed and police pursued.

The driver, a 36-year-old Sarnia man, eventually lost control and came to a stop. All three occupants fled on foot in different directions.

Officers chased the driver into a nearby wooded area where he allegedly brandished a large knife. After refusing to drop the knife he proceeded to flee but fell.

Police used a Taser to subdue the suspect and took him into custody.

The male driver is facing several charges including possession of stolen property and resisting a police officer.

A 22-year-old female passenger was located and charged with possession of stolen property.

Around 10:30 a.m. a 26-year-old male passenger was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
