A construction worker has died after being hit by his own truck while working in Perth County.

The 54-year-old man was hit around noon Friday while working at the intersection of Line 32 and Road 134, south of Sebringville.

According to Perth County OPP, he was struck by his truck, which then proceeded to hit a hydro pole, sending power lines onto the roadway near the driver.

The driver was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified later in the day as Murray Hyde, a resident of Perth East.

It was not immediately clear whether Hyde was killed by the truck or by the downed wires.

A minor power outage was reported in the area at the time of the crash.
