Former Toronto Mayor Rob Forb remains in hospital this morning as he continues to battle cancer.
Ford’s family issues a statement Wednesday evening asking for privacy after rumours swirled in social media that the former mayor had died.
The statement reads:
“"With his family beside him, Councillor Ford is currently in hospital as he continues his battle against cancer.
The Ford family asks for privacy during this difficult time, and thank the people of Toronto and around the world for their ongoing prayers and support.
Should there be any developments, a further release will follow."
In September of 2014 Ford was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery to remove a tumour from his abdomen.
In October 2015 he announced that a new growth had been found on his bladder. Since then he has been undergoing chemotherapy.
