Marsha Benninger has suffered traumatic loss in the last two weeks, but the community is drawing together to support her and her family.

One St. Thomas couple understands what the family is going through and want to help.

Shawn and Natalie Massecar's two-day-old daughter Paisley passed away in June.

He says the loss is difficult to put into words, "It went from a really awesome feeling, to the worst feeling."

Paisley had a congentital heart defect. Like the Benninger family, the hospital provided them with a memory box, with moldings of her hands and feet, intertwined with her parents.

So when they heard that the box made for Marsha's newborn Sawyer was stolen, they decided to offer a $500 reward for its return, from a non-profit organization they founded called Camo for Paisley.

Other members of the public have also offered rewards, with the total currently at over $1,000.

Support for the family has also been pouring in online. A GoFundMe campaign to help with their bills that started Wednesday has already raised over $10,000.

Marsha was involved in a car crash in Wingham and remains in critical condition in hospital. At the time she was one week overdue with son Sawyer, who did not survive the crash.

The memory box for the newborn was stolen from the family vehicle while it was parked outside a London hotel on Sunday night.

Police say the investigation into the theft of the box is still in the works.

London police Const. Ken Steeves explains "The criminal aspect of this case is not the priority, our number one goal in this case is to get the items back and returned back to the family."

And that's what the Massecar family hopes, Natalie says, "We just know how we would feel if that happened. We had two short days with Paisley, but they're two days we would never take back or change in any way."
