Huron OPP are investigating after racist and homophobic graffiti was found in three locations in Goderich, Ont.

An employee at one of the locations reportedly spotted the graffiti while driving to work Tuesday morning and reported it to police.

OPP say the mischief incidents are believed to have taken place overnight in the southwest area of Goderich.

The graffiti was found on:

  • a northeast wall of the Goderich-Huron YMCA on Suncoast Drive East
  • the rear wall of Sleep Matters in a commercial plaza on Suncoast Drive East
  • a small storage shed at the Windsor Salt property on Huron Road

Police say racial and homophobic slurs, a swastika and "an unflattering message for the police" were sprayed onto walls in brown, black and pink spray paint.

They are remiding people that graffiti is considered mischief, a criminal code offence that could carry a jail sentence if convicted.
