A 21-year-old man is facing more charges after attempting to escape from custody following a court appearance in Huron County.

Police say Christopher Johnston had made a scheduled court appearance last Wednesday, June 25, and was denied bail.

Then, hile being escorted back to a cell, OPP say he pushed the special constable and temporarily broke free, but quickly tripped on his leg shackles as he tried to escape and was taken back into custody.

Johnston, who is from Goderich, is now facing charges of assaulting a peace officer, escaping lawful custody and filing to comply with a probation order.

He remains in custody pending a court appearance in Goderich on Monday.
