London police arrested a 21-year-old man and seized a shotgun after a standoff near Fanshawe College Thursday night.

Police were called to an address on Jim Ashton Street for a break and enter in progress around 6 p.m. Thursday.  Officers say the person attempting to gain entry had left before they arrived.

Officers learned one of the people inside had a shotgun and had barricaded himself in the residence.  The area was contained by members of the uniformed division and the Emergency Response Unit.

The man surrendered to police, then the guns and drugs section executed a search warrant at the residence.

Police seized a sawed off Cooey 12 gauge single barreled shotgun, 39 rounds of federal 12 gauge shotgun shells and three grams of marijuana.

Ryan Abraham, 21, was charged with:

  • Two counts of use/handle/store weapons and ammunition carelessly
  • Possession of a weapon - dangerous to public peace
  • Unlicenced person possess prohibited weapon
  • Possess loaded regulated firearm
  • Two counts of possess firearm/ammunition while prohibited
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance
