A lockdown issued Sunday that lasted several hours was due to public safety, London police say.

Police say they attended a home on Cecilia Avenue with a search warrant in relation to a shooting in the downtown area Friday that left a man in critical condition.

Arrest warrants were issued for William Dwayne McDonald, 25, and Samater Ali, 26.

Police said that in a warrant execution there is an "elevated potential for violence and/or weapons to be present, members of the Emergency Response Unit were utilized."

Once it was determined there was no threat to the public, police re-opened Cecilia Avenue about 4:30 p.m.

Neither William McDonald or Samater Ali have been arrested in relation to this investigation and police continue their search.

Police also say there is an additional investigation related to Sunday's warrant and no further information will be provided at this time.

Members of the public are encouraged to call the London Police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers if they have any information or tips that may assist, However they are reminded not to approach either of these males as they are considered dangerous.
