A 51-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman are facing charges after a man was shot at Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation on Saturday.

Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police and the Middlesex County crime unit are investigating the incident that they were called to at about 8:40 a.m.

Police responded to a report of an injured male from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say there was an apparent altercation outside a residence involving two men when the one of the men allegedly shot the other man involved, causing minor injury.

As a result of the investigation, police had two suspects in custody facing a number of charges.

John Miachael David Kennedy, 51, of no fixed address, is charged with:

-assault with a weapon,

-aggravated assault,

-possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,

-unauthorized possession of weapon,

-careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,

-possession of firearm or ammunition,

-assault,

-careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,

He was held in custody and will be appearing in the London courts to answer to the charges.

Valerie Vandendriessche, 46, from London, is charged with careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition.

She is scheduled to appear in the London courts to answer to the charges.
