Lambton County OPP have released the identity of a 78-year-old man who was killed after his truck collided with a train on Monday.

The man has been identified as Michil Demaiter of Newbury.  

Police were called to the area of Euphemia Line and Cairo Road in Dawn-Euphemia Township around 1:17 p.m.

Chatham-Kent police were initially dispatched along with Canadian Pacific police, local fire departments and EMS.

Police say the operator of the stack truck was attempting to cross the railway crossing on Euphemia Line and in doing so crossed directly in the path of a southbound freight train.

He was transported to hospital by EMS, but succumb to the injuries sustained in the collision.

Euphemia Line at Cairo Road was closed for several hours for investigative purposes.
