Norfolk County OPP have charged the driver of a pickup involved in a collision with a motorcycle that killed two people earlier this month.

Police were called to a collision at Teeterville Road and Brantford Road shortly before 7 p.m. on Aug. 6 in which a westbound pickup collided with a southbound motorcyclist.

As a result, the motorcyce rider, 54-year-old Kenneth Haviland of Norfolk County, and a passenger in the pickup, 74-year-old Patricia Menard-Williams of Woodstock, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 80-year-old driver of the pickup, the husband of the Woodstock woman, was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

On Thursday, OPP say the driver was charged with failing to yield to traffic on through highway under the Highway Traffic Act.

He is scheduled to appear in a Simcoe court at a later date to answer to the charge.
