A 68-year-old woman has died after being struck by a pickup backing out of a driveway on Thursday.
Norfolk County OPP say the fatal collision occurred just after 2 p.m. on South Drive in Simcoe.
According to police the woman was walking westbound along the sidewalk when she was struck by a pickup driven by an 83-year-old man that was pulling out of a driveway.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured.
The deceased has been identified as Jane Mary Thomson of Norfolk County.
An investigation into the collision continues and South Drive between John Street and Kent Street South was closed for about four hours for police activity.
