A second person has died after a crash in Plattsville that led to impaired driving charges against a 38-year-old Bright, Ont. man.

The crash involving a pickup truck and another vehicle occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday near Douro Street and Elizabeth Street in Blandford Blenheim Township.

Harold Hartwick, 83, of Waterloo was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger was airlifted to a London hospital.

OPP say that that passenger, 85-year-old Helena Hartwick, also of Waterloo, has now died as a result of her injuries.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jeffrey De La Penotiere of Bright had been charged with impaired driving causing death, driving with over 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content and impaired driving causing bodily harm.

There is no word yet on whether the charges will be updated.
