A London couple accused of locking their 10-year-old nephew in a room for two years were in court Thursday.

They are charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and forcible confinement.

The child was found last May in urine-soaked pyjamas living in what police described as a filthy bedroom in their house.

It's believed he survived on fast food.

He continues to recover in foster care.

The couple - who were the boy's guardians - are next scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on July 3rd.

Their names are not being released to protect the boy's identity.
