Oxford OPP have charged a Norwich Township man after he allegedly slammed into a school bus while impaired.

Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to Pressey Line near Culloden Road after a van reportedly struck the rear of the school bus.

It was stopped with its lights activated at the time.

There was only one student on the bus along with the driver. No one was hurt.

Police say the driver of the van was impaired and was arrested.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Michael Palen, 58, is charged with operate a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

He was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
