More than $5 million in relief funds have been doled out to those affected by the deadly tornado that struck Goderich a year-and-a-half ago.

The disaster relief committee says it will pay out another $1.2 million to claimants before the process is over.

The community raised more than $4 million after the twister tore through its historic downtown in August 2011 and claimed the life of a salt mine worker.

The provincial government chipped in with another $2 million.
