One dead, two injured following multi-vehicle crash east of Kemptville, Ont.

One person has died and two others have been injured following a multi-vehicle collision east of Kemptville, Ont. Friday afternoon, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say they responded to a multi-vehicle crash on County Road 43 near Van Buren Street just after 5:30 p.m.

“An eastbound vehicle crossed the centre line, sideswiping one westbound vehicle and colliding head-on with a second westbound vehicle,” The OPP said in a news release Saturday.

The driver of the eastbound car was declared dead at the scene, police say. He was identified as an 81-year-old man from Kemptville.

Meanwhile, the drivers of the other two cars were taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

Following the incident, County Road 43 was closed until shortly after midnight.

Investigators are seeking dashcam footage of the crash.
