Lambton County OPP are hoping a video will help prompt fresh leads in the death of 14-year-old Sarnia girl.

Karen Lee Ann Caughlin was found dead exactly  41 years ago, on March 16, 1974, along the side of a road northwest of Petrolia.

Now police are again hoping a seven-minute case chronology video on YouTube will help generate new information.

OPP Det.-Supt. Dave Truax says, “The OPP video now reaches an audience that may have relocated from the Sarnia area since 1974 and has effectively generated some new information that wasn’t available before 2014...We remain confident that someone will contribute something from that time that will help explain Karen’s tragic loss for her family and friends.”

Police initially released the video on the 40-year anniversary of Caughlin's death and say it has generated information.

Caughlin's body was found in Lambton County on a Saturday morning near the side of what was then 6th Sideroad or Freer Road - now known as Plowing Match Road - between Churchill Line and Lasalle Line.

She was las seen 22 kilometres away and about nine hours earlier in Sarnia.

Police are looking for information on the gap in time, from 12:50 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. that Saturday, as well as where Caughlin may have been through the day on Friday when she was out in the community or at Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School.

Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP Det.-Const. Rob Carruthers at 519-882-1011 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at: https://www.tipsubmit.com/
