Norfolk OPP is seeking the public’s help after suspected packages of poison were found scattered around the Simcoe and District Humane Society.

According to police, an unknown number of individuals placed packages of suspected rodent poison that was mixed with kibble dog food, around the humane society property.

Cathie Hosken, the shelter manager, says if eaten "It can create severe, severe illness and blood dsorders and eventually the animal will die."

OPP believe the packages were placed between Saturday and Monday, and say besides the animals, young visitors to the shelter could easily have been harmed.

Norfolk OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk says "Somebody knows something about this investigation and we're looking to hear from them...We are also going to be canvassing various buildings to see if they have any type security equipment that was available that may have captured the suspect placing these items around."

Through their investigation, police have determined that the packages were placed under a pine tree, picnic table, wood shed, and near the humane society’s office.

Fortunately no animals were injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call OPP or Crime Stoppers.
