Lambton OPP are investigating after an assault call reportedly led to two officers being struck by a passing vehicle.

Officers were called to an Alfred Street residence in Point Edward around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday where they found a male and female who appeared to be drunk.

As the woman was being arrested, she allegedly kicked the officers.

Shelby Rogers, 18, of Sarnia has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and one count of being intoxicated in a public place.

A 22-year-old male from Sarnia was injured while being arrested and had to taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

As the officers were standing beside their cruiser, which was parked on the road, both were struck by a southbound vehicle.

The officers suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, a 79-year-old man from Sarnia, was not injured.

An investigation into the incident continues.
