Funding problems are forcing the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to pull out of Grey and Bruce counties.

Spokesman Brad Dewar says the organization is not funded by any government and because of a cash squeeze they will no longer respond to calls about the abuse or neglect of animals in the area.

Coverage of the Grey-Bruce area will end on March 1st.

Dewar says after that, it will be up to police or municipalities to investigate complaints normally handled by the SPCA.
