TORONTO - Public high school teachers and support staff have endorsed the recently-negotiated contract changes with the provincial government.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation says members voted 84 per cent in favour of the revision to the contract imposed in January under Bill 115.

Federation president Ken Coran says the agreement addresses "problematic" issues in the imposed contract that were identified by members.

PC education critic Lisa MacLeod says the deal will cost at least $114 million and the Liberals need to "come clean" with how students will be affected.

Education Minister Liz Sandals says the agreement shows the government and the union have come a long way toward rebuilding their relationship.

Among other things, the agreement gives teachers improved maternity leave and sick day benefits, as well as fewer unpaid days off.
