A house fire in Tillsonburg late Saturday that was discovered by a passerby has left one female with critical injuries.
Oxford County OPP and the Tillsonburg Fire Department were called to the home on Frances Street just before midnight on Saturday.
A passerby, smelling smoke and observing it coming from the upper apartment of the residence, went to a nearby residence to contact 911.
The citizen then alerted the residents living in the other apartments, but the smoke was too think to enter the apartment where it appeared to originate.
Tillsonburg firefighters entered the residence and were able to rescue a female in distress.
She was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
The value of the damage to the residence is unknown.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in and the investigation continues.
