A man is dead after a single-vehicle crash northeast of Mt. Elgin on Tuesday morning.

Oxford County OPP and emergency crews were called to Ebenezer Road at Duffy Line around 5:30 a.m.

A car just cresting the hill westbound on Ebenezer reportedly went into the north ditch, swerved back onto the road, hit the south ditch, went airborne, struck a tree and flipped into the ditch southwest of Ebenezer and Duffy.

The lone occupant was extricated by fire crews but was later pronounced dead in hospital.

He has since been identified as 29-year-old Roger Belanger of Norwich Township.

OPP Const. Lisa Narancsik says, "We've had our technical traffic collision investigators on scene taking all the measurements, trying to put together what happened here."

Ebenezer was closed from Plank Line to Zenda Line and Duffy was closed from Mt. Elgin Road to McBeth Road until early Tuesday afternoon for the investigation.
