An Ohio man has been charged with careless driving after a crash between two transport trucks that sent a 69-year-old woman to hospital.

Chatham-Kent OPP responded to the crash in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Orford Road at 5:08 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police say a tractor trailer left the roadway, drove into the median, attempted to drive out, lost control and rolled onto the eastbound lanes. The impact ejected a female passenger in the bunk of the truck.

Irma Passwaters, of Ohio, was rushed to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and later transferred to London Health Sciences with non-life threatening injuries. She remains in stable condition.

A second eastbound tractor trailer collided with the rolled truck, causing it to cross the median and stop in the westbound lanes. A third tractor trailer traveling eastbound, drove into debris from the crash causing front end damage. A fourth tractor trailer travelling westbound sustained windshield damage as a result of flying debris from the collision.

Bruce Passwaters, 68, who was driving the rolled truck, has been charged with careless driving. He was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with non-life-threatening injuries. He is in stable condition.
