The Hanover Police have concluded a criminal investigation into the death of 30-year-old Adam Brunt and will not issue any criminal charges.

Brunt, a firefighting student from Bowmanville Ontario, died during a training exercise in the town of Hanover on February 8th, 2015.

Brunt was taking part in swift water training in the Saugeen River when he got trapped under ice in the fast flowing current.

The training course was administered by a private training firmbased out of Newmarket.

Hanover police concluded that there were no reasonable grounds to criminally charge anyone involved in the training course.

The Coroner’s Office has been contacted and any decision regarding an inquest into Brunt’s death will come from the Coroner.

The Ministry of Labour says they are still investigating the circumstances that led to Brunt's Death.

Brunt would have graduated in June, according to his father.

He was taking the courses to improve his resume before looking for a job, and was at the top of his class.

He'd hoped to join the fire department in Clarington, where his uncle works.
