St. Thomas police say no charges are being laid after a three-year-old child was found walking alone around the city on Friday.

The boy was initially spotted in the Balaclava Street and Malakoff Street area around 5:30 a.m. and was soon picked up by police behind a store on Talbot Street.

The child’s father reportedly went to the police station a few hours later after waking up and realizing he was gone.

Officials say Family and Children’s Services is continuing their investigation and remains involved with the family.

St. Thomas police are thanking the media and area residents for their help.
