Nine teenagers were lucky to escape with injuries that aren’t life threatening after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled over into a ditch, narrowly missing a tree early Saturday.

Perth County OPP said the driver of a Chevrolet Cavalier lost control of the vehicle on Perth Road 131 near Line 59, south of Milverton.

Two of the teens were in the vehicle’s trunk and the others were piled into the passenger side.

Six of the teenagers were transferred to the London Health Sciences Centre.

The two 15-year-old males in the truck had to be extricated by the Perth County Fire Department.

The 18-year-old male driver, of Stratford, and his passengers ranging in ages from 15 to 18 were all taken to local hospitals.

Two were transported to Listowel Memorial Hospital, while seven originally went to the Stratford General Hospital.

Police said the car was travelling northbound on Perth Road 131. Just north of Line 59, the driver lost control and the vehicle spun into a ditch, rolled and landed upright. Perth Road 131 near the crash scene was closed until 9:30 a.m.
