Two men are facing charges after $285,000 worth of various drugs and grow ops were found at residences on Daugherty Drive and Neal Avenue in St. Thomas.

The search came after the Canada Border Services Agency stopped a package from Poland containing gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL), an illegal drug used to make gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), also known as the ‘date rape drug.’

The St. Thomas Police Service was assisted by the RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency to execute the search warrants at the two addresses on Monday.

At the Daugherty Drive address police found $85,000 worth of GBL, marijuana leaves, seeds and stems, cocaine, a morphine table, unidentified pills, magic mushrooms and a marijuana grow op.

Two men at the address were arrested.

The search led officers to a second address on Neal Avenue where a search found 160 marijuana plants and nearly eight pounds of dried marijuana, valued together at about $200,000.

The men have each been charged with multiple counts of production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, importing a controlled substance and illegally possessing a precursor under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Both have been in court and are expected to make their next appearance on Friday.
