The Nature Conservancy of Canada has bought a large piece of undeveloped land on the Northern Bruce Peninsula that will connect to existing conservation areas.

The NCC says the Crane River Tract it bought is home to many species-at-risk from the Massassauga rattlesnake to the Eastern prairie fringed orchid.

They say they've the area is a key wildlife corridor that is important for wide-ranging animals like the genetically distinct American black bear population.
