London police say the mother of a six-year-old child who was stabbed in her home has been charged with attempted murder.
Just after 9 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to 114 Arbour Glen Cres. in relation to a report that a child had been stabbed.
A six-year-old suffering from a serious injury to the abdomen was immediately transported to hospital by ambulance.
The girl reportedly underwent surgery for several stab wounds and remains in critical condition.
The girl's mother, 29-year-old Erica Ehikwe, was arrested at the scene and police believe there are no suspects outstanding.
She has since been charged with attempted murder and was being held in custody pending a court appearance.

The girl involved was reportedly a Grade 1 student at London's St. Michael Catholic Elementary School.
A letter being sent home to students Thursday indicated a Crisis Response Team is being provided to the school to help those who may need it.
It also asks families to, "Please pray for the recovery of the student, as well as for her family members, classmates, teachers and staff."
