The Elgin Mall in St Thomas was shut down after part of the roof collapsed above the food court.

But most of the stores have since re-opened to the public.

Only two remain closed at this point as a safety precaution.

Emergency crews got the the scene around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Inspectors are currently looking at a sink area above the food court.

The depression may have been caused by torrential rains Friday evening.

There have been no injuries related to the incident.

The mall will remain closed to the public until the chief engineer for the city of St Thomas assesses the damage.
