The Special Investigations Unit has ended its probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old woman who fell from a London balcony.

The acting director of the SIU, Joseph Martino, has terminated the investigation into the falling death of the woman from a sixth-floor apartment balcony last month.

London police received a call about a woman in distress in an apartment unit at Wonderland Road and Southdale Avenue.

The SIU says the officers made attempts to negotiate with the woman.

It says officers arrived at the apartment door and attempted to speak with the woman through the door.

A short time later, an officer positioned at ground level in front of the building communicated that the woman had fallen from the sixth floor balcony to the ground below.

Officers initiated CPR before EMS arrived. She was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead, the SIU says.

"It is apparent that the woman fell to her death of her own volition and that there is nothing to investigate as far as any potential criminality is concerned on the part of the officers who were on scene at the time in question," Martino says.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
