London police have recovered a shotgun during an investigation into a possible home invasion overnight.
Officers were called to a Queens Avenue address around 11 p.m. on Tuesday after someone reportedly broke into the home.
Investigators say there was a physical altercation between the male suspect and the 66-year-old male resident and objects in the home were used as weapons.
The resident eventually fled the apartment and called 911 from a nearby home.
When police arrived they learned the suspect was still inside the home, and that there was also a firearm that was unrelated to the suspect.
The Emergency Response Unit found the suspect had barricaded himself in the apartment, but he was arrested withouth incident shortly before 4 a.m.
Both men involved were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but were later released and taken into custody.
Myron Ireland, 48, of no fixed address is facing charges in connection with the home invasion including; break and enter, two counts of assault with a weapon and resisting arrest.
Police remained on scene until around 11 a.m. and recovered a Remington 970 Pump Action shotgun and 28 rounds of ammunition from the home.
The resident, Peter Athanasakos, has since been charged with; careless storage of a firearm and careless storage of ammunition.
