The piglet-killing virus - porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) - has appeared again in Ontario.

A farm in Perth County is the latest to have a confirmed diagnosis of PED.

The latest case brings Ontario's total PED count to 79 since the virus arrived in the province in January 2014.

The virus is spread through manure, so special biosecurity measures have been in place since the virus was first detected.

The rate of spread has dropped dramatically over the past year, so there is hope that the virus can eventually be eliminated from Ontario's pork herd.
