London police are asking for help identifying a car and its driver after an incident in south London on Saturday.

Officers responded to a disturbance in the area of Edward Street near Devonshire Avenue on Saturday shortly after 7 a.m.

At the scene police found a woman in distress. Ambulance attended and transported her to hospital. She has since been released.

The female - a sex trade worker - had been a passenger in a newer model silver Honda Civic with a noisy after-market exhaust.

The motor vehicle was being driven by a black male, approximately 40 years of age, who was wearing a baseball style hat.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying either the vehicle or the male driver.

As a result of the assault, police have also issued a warning to sex trade workers to remain vigilant and be cautious.
