Are you prepared in the event of an emergency? That's what's the City of London wants residents to ensure as it kicks off Emergency Preparedness Week.

This year's motto is: "I am prepared, we are prepared."

The city is encouraging all residents to make sure they have a 72-hour survival kit in their homes in case of an emergency.

Londoners are also being asked to keep others in mind, especially neighbours, friends and family who are more vulnerable or incapable of supporting themselves in an emergency.

Families should also have a plan in place to meet if they cannot return home and be aware of the hazards specific to their community, be it flooding, tornadoes, winter storms, etc.

Emergency Preparedness Week is a Canada-wide initiative to increase awareness and help people be better prepared in case of an emergency.
