A Middlesex resident lost $45,000 in a crypto-currency scam.

Police were made aware of the fraud on December 10, after an individual reported that they had been made victim.

According to OPP, the victim clicked on a pop-up ad on a social media site that advertised an investment opportunity.

Police say that the victim became suspicious when additional funds were requested to ‘unlock’ and retrieve the initial investment funds.

If you have been victim of a fraud, you are not alone. Fraud is a multi-billion dollar industry that relies on confusion and chaos to victimize people. Reporting fraud can help police prevent further victimization in the future – report it, and always avoid suspicious activity online involving people you don’t know.
