Friends and family are gathering Monday night to mark the one year anniversary of the death of 23-year-old Jan Broz.

Broz’s friends are planning a memorial convoy to honour his memory.

Broz was killed on January 18, 2015 after a car he was a passenger in lost control and struck a tree on the campus at Western University.

Elton Sabino, 24, was at the wheel at the time of the collision and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Sabino was sentenced to two years in jail back in August.

The court heard evidence that Sabino was driving upwards of 120 kilometres per hour in a 40 kilometre zone just before the crash.

Friends and family of Broz are planning to meet at the Sears Outlet Store at Oxford Street West at 9 p.m. From there a convoy will drive to the crash site at Western.

London police and Campus police will be on hand for traffic control. There will be a candlelight vigil to follow.

Anyone attending is asked to bring a donation for LHSC Children’s Hospital.Jan
