London police has released some additional information in connection to a gun situation on Monday, which put some area schools on lockdown.

According to investigators, officers were dispatched to a section of Barrett Crescent around 11 a.m. after receiving reports of gunshots being fired.

Upon arrival, one man was arrested while exiting a shed by the Emergency Response Unit.

Officials say a search warrant led to the discovery of a Marlin single-shot, bolt-action, .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle that had been converted to a handgun.

A  Winchester Model 77, .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle, along with ammunition and marijuana was also seized.

As a result, Neale McJannet, 61, is charged with:

  • Discharge firearm being reckless as to the life or safety of another person.
  • Two counts of store firearm carelessly.
  • Point a firearm.
  • Store ammunition carelessly.
  • Possess a prohibited firearm.
  • Uttering threats to cause death.
  • Possess schedule two substance.

Students at four area schools were placed under a 'hold and secure' order during the incident.
