A London man, who allegedly jumped onto the passenger side of a slow moving transport truck early Saturday morning and demanded the driver speed up, has been charged with various weapons offences.

London police say the suspect jumped onto the truck at Adelaide and Oxford Streets carrying an exacto knife. The truck driver phoned police and when they arrived the male was still clinging to the side of the truck.

Police say they demanded the suspect to get off the truck and put his hands up. At that point, he jumped off and ran toward them.

Police used a taser and the man fell to the ground and was arrested.

Charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace is 37-year-old Thomas Jackson.

The incident occurred at 2:45 a.m.
