London police say Friday's sudden death of man downtown was not the result of an altercation he had with another man prior to his death.

A post-mortem was conducted on the deceased, who police have not identified.

While the exact cause of death has yet to be established, police say the coroner is satisfied that the altercation did not play a role in the death.

Officers were called to the intersection of Dundas and Richmond just before 4 p.m.

There they found a man collapsed on a sidewalk.
