A Chatham man has been charged after police say he was found in a basement with a crowbar and assorted tools.
According to Chatham-Kent police, officers responded to a vacant home on Grand Avenue West for a break and enter on Monday morning.
A homeowner checking the property discovered a smashed window. When officers arrived to investigate, they found a man inside the home. Police say a search of the man’s backpack turned up a crowbar, wrench, pliers and assorted screwdrivers.
The 55-year-old man was charged with break and enter and being in possession of break-in tools.
