London police are investigating a fatal collision in the city’s south end.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Manning Drive, just west of Old Victoria Road about 6 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police say a red coloured Volkswagen Golf was travelling eastbound on Manning when it veered off the south side of the roadway and collided with a tree.  The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was ejected.

The travelled speed of the car is believed by police to be a contributing factor in the cause of the collision.

Police are not releasing his name until his next of kin have been notified.

The investigation has been re-assigned to the traffic management unit and details surrounding the cause of the collision are still under investigation.
