Provincial police are investigating a fatal incident at a North Walsingham farm.

OPP and Air Ornge responded to the farm in the on Norfolk County Road 45 on Monday around 7 p.m., for a report of a fatal incident.

Through their investigation, officers learned that a 56-year-old man was operating a three-wheeled fertilizer spreader, with a seasonal worker in the passenger seat .Police say for some unknown reason the operator left the tobacco field – driving down a large embankment and into a pond.

The seasonal worker was able to jump from the machine and run to a nearby farm for help.

Norfolk County Fire Services assisted in recovering the man from the pond. Cyriel D'Hulster, of Norfolk County was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ministry of Labour and Ministry of the Environment have been notified.
