London police are urging residents to use common sense after a man was detained for carrying a fake gun downtown.
At 1:25 pm Saturday afternoon, police received a 911 call about a man in the area of Dundas Street and Richmond Street carrying what appeared to be a firearm in a holster on his belt.
He was located in the area of Richmond Street at Carling Street carrying a plastic gun in a holster.
He was detained and an investigation determined that no criminal offence had been committed.
The man was released unconditionally.
London police remind people that replica firearms can be mistaken as a weapon.
