MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Police say a man is dead after a wrong-way vehicle smashed into a guardrail on the highway early Saturday morning.
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police says the incident happened in Mississauga at about 3 a.m.
He says police had already been called about the vehicle, which was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of a major highway, and were on their way when the collision occurred.
Schmidt says the driver, a 29-year-old man from Whitby, Ont., was killed on impact.
He says police have not yet determined whether the driver was impaired.
Schmidt has asked anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the collision to come forward.
