A 33-year-old man is facing charges after OPP say a second man was the victim of an unprovoked attack on Boxing Day.

Oxford County OPP were called to the Tim Hortons parking lot on HIghway 59 in Norwich around 8 a.m. Thursday for a report of an assault.

Police say a 63-year-old male was exiting the Tim Hortons drive-thru when he was pulled out of his vehicle and assaulted by an unknown male on foot.

He was transported to hospital to be treated for serious facial injuries.

A short time later, for unknown reasons, the suspect returned to the Tim Hortons and was arrested by OPP.

Cornelius Bernardus VanWoerden of Norwich has been charged with aggravated assault in the incident.

He is being held pending a bail hearing in Woodstock on Tuesday.
